Trip Itinerary

Day 1: ARRIVAL DAY IN CHAMONIX

Arrive in the picturesque and historic town of Chamonix, nestled in the heart of the Alps. Take time to settle into your comfortable hotel, wander the quaint cobblestone streets, and relax before embarking on your exciting hiking adventure.

Day 2: LES HOUCHES - TRICOT PASS - LES CONTAMINES - MONTJOIE

Meet your guide at 8:30 AM in Chamonix for a short morning transfer to Les Houches. A lift takes you up to Bellevue, where your hike begins. Descend to the base of the Bionnassay Glacier for a breathtaking view from a "Nepali-style" hanging bridge. Ascend to the Col de Tricot (2,120 m / 6,955 ft) before hiking down to the charming hamlet of Chalets de Miage, with a stunning view of the Dômes de Miage summit. After a rest, continue hiking up to the Chalets du Truc, and finally, descend to the village of Les Contamines-Montjoie for your overnight stay.

Day 3: LES CONTAMINES - CROIX DU BONHOMME PASS - LES CHAPIEUX - BOURG-SAINT-MAURICE

Take a short transfer by local bus to Notre-Dame-de-la-Gorge (1,210m/3,970ft), home to a famous Baroque church. Embark on the longest day of the week, traversing an old Roman road. Ascend to Col du Bonhomme (2,329m/7,641ft) and continue to Col de la Croix-du-Bonhomme (2,433m/7,982ft), offering a breathtaking panorama of the Vanoise range. Descend through alpine meadows to the hamlet of Les Chapieux, followed by a 25' transfer to Bourg-Saint-Maurice for the night.

After a morning transfer, commence your hike from La Ville des Glaciers (1,790m/5,872ft), passing a cheese farm. Ascend through alpine meadows to Col La Seigne (2,516m/8,255ft), marking the French-Italian border. Enjoy panoramic views of legendary summits before descending to Courmayeur (1,226m/4,022ft), the capital of the Italian Alps.

Experience a shorter day with a transfer from Courmayeur to the Italian side of Val Ferret. The hike begins at the foot of the Pré-de-Bar glacier, reaching Rifugio Elena (2,052m/6,732ft). Ascend to Grand Col Ferret (2,537m/8,323ft), the Italian-Swiss border, and descend to the hamlet of Ferret (1,740m/5,708ft). Transfer to Champex village, known for its charming lake.

Optionally, embark on a longer adventure to Fenêtre d'Arpette (2,665m/8,743ft). Conclude the day in the village of Trient (1,280m/4,199ft) before transferring to Argentière in France for dinner and an overnight stay.

Hike from Col des Montets (1,461m/4,793ft) to Lake des Chéserys and onward to beautiful Lake Blanc (2,352m/7,716ft). Descend to La Flégère (1,877m/6,158ft) and reach Les Praz de Chamonix via cable car. Return to Chamonix for a farewell with your guide and enjoy your last dinner in town.

Our Team
Your trip will be led by a French and English-speaking UIMLA-certified mountain guide, specializing in the Tour du Mont Blanc. For groups of 4 to 12 participants, your guide will expertly lead you along their favorite trails through this breathtaking region. While your guide speaks fluent English, don't be surprised if they add a bit of French flair to the conversation!

Group Composition
Expect to share your adventure with English-speaking travelers from various nationalities, such as British, American, Australian, and more. This journey promises to be a truly multicultural experience!

Altitude Differences
The altitude gains and losses are calculated based on map data, not GPS, which can often overestimate by up to 20% due to technical limitations. We rely on map data to give you the most accurate information.

Insurance
We recommend that all participants obtain personal insurance that covers medical care and emergency evacuation as a minimum. You may also want to include coverage for lost or damaged personal belongings, flight cancellations, or trip interruptions. Feel free to ask us for advice.

Transfers
The following transfers are included in your tour:

  • Day 2: Shuttle bus from Chamonix to Les Houches and cable car from Bellevue to Les Houches
  • Day 3: Transfer from Les Contamines-Montjoies to Notre-Dame-de-la-Gorge, private transfer from Les Chapieux to Bourg-Saint-Maurice
  • Day 4: Private transfer from Bourg-Saint-Maurice to La Ville des Glaciers, shuttle bus from La Visaille to Courmayeur
  • Day 5: Private transfer from Courmayeur to Arnuva, private transfer from Ferret to Champex
  • Day 6: Private transfer from Trient to Argentière
  • Day 7: Private transfer from Argentière to Col des Montets, lift from La Flégère to Les Praz-de-Chamonix, and shuttle bus from Les Praz-de-Chamonix to Chamonix

Lodging
You’ll stay in 3 or 4-star hotels (or equivalent) with double or twin rooms and private bathrooms. Some hotels may require a vehicle transfer from the end of the hike due to their location in the valley or the surrounding terrain. After a day's hike, you’ll have the chance to explore nearby villages or relax by serene locations like Lake Champex. In Courmayeur, the town center offers a delightful shopping and dining experience.
Please note that single rooms are available on request and are subject to availability with an additional supplement. If you’re traveling as part of an odd-numbered group, a triple room will be arranged.
If you’d like to extend your stay or arrive earlier, we can arrange extra nights at our partner hotels upon request. Be sure to book in advance.

Meals
Our aim is to provide nutritious and well-balanced meals to fuel your hikes, while keeping your pack light.

  • Dinners: In the hotels, dinner typically consists of a set three-course menu featuring a starter, main course, and dessert. In Courmayeur, you’ll dine at an authentic Italian restaurant for a delicious local culinary experience. The first dinner in Chamonix is not included, giving you the freedom to explore the town’s dining options.
  • Breakfasts: A generous buffet awaits at the hotels, with options like pastries, fresh bread, homemade jams, fruits, cereals, as well as savory items such as cheeses, ham, and eggs.
  • Lunches: Packed lunches will be provided by your guide or accommodation. These picnics are an essential part of the hiking day, offering healthy and balanced meals to restore your energy. Sharing local products during lunch adds a cultural experience to your hike, and your guide will ensure each meal is as diverse as possible, taking into account transport and storage limitations.

If you have specific dietary requirements, please notify us ahead of time via your personal profile. During your trip, remind your guide of any dietary restrictions, as they will manage meal arrangements with the accommodation providers.

Drinks
Please note that drinks (excluding water) are not included. Be sure to settle any drink bills before leaving each location to avoid extra charges.

Luggage Transfer
Your luggage will be transferred by vehicle to your next accommodation each day. Simply leave your bag at the hotel reception before heading out on your hike. Please note that each bag should not exceed 15 kg.

Access
This trip begins and ends in Chamonix Mont-Blanc, with the closest airport being Geneva International Airport. The easiest way to reach Chamonix from Geneva is by airport transfer, which we can arrange for you upon request.

We have chosen not to include the Geneva to Chamonix transfer in the package, allowing you flexibility in your arrival and departure times. Transfers are available 24/7 to suit your schedule.

  • A French and English-speaking trekking leader (UIMLA certified) from Day 2 to Day 7, guiding groups of 4 to 12 participants.

Accommodations:

  • Double/twin rooms (occasionally triple or quadruple if double rooms are unavailable)

  • 5 dinners (excluding dinner in Chamonix on day 1)
