Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival to El Chaltén (“Trekking Capital of Argentina”)

The adventure begins in El Chaltén, Argentina’s trekking capital, where we set out toward the iconic Laguna de los Tres, one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in Los Glaciares National Park. After a short transfer (17 km) to the trailhead, the hike follows the Río Blanco through lush lenga forests and glacial valleys on the eastern side of the Fitz Roy Massif.

Along the way, our guide shares insight into Patagonia’s unique flora and fauna, and we pause at the Piedras Blancas Glacier viewpoint to witness brilliant blue ice, ancient moraines, and sweeping valley vistas. Continuing upward, the landscape opens dramatically to reveal Mount Fitz Roy’s towering spires—a true symbol of Patagonia’s wild beauty.

Our goal for the day is the shimmering turquoise waters of Laguna de los Tres, framed by the granite peaks of Fitz Roy. It’s an unforgettable reward for a moderate yet challenging day of hiking, offering one of the most impressive panoramic views in all of Patagonia.

We’ll descend to the Fitz Roy Comfort Camp, where a warm dinner and cozy mountain setting await. All camping gear included.

Services: 1 night at Fitz Roy Comfort Camp. Boxed lunch and dinner included.

Day 2: Laguna Torre – Cerro Torre

After breakfast, we leave the Fitz Roy range behind and hike into one of the most beautiful valleys in Los Glaciares National Park. The trail leads us through rolling hills and native lenga and ñire forests, passing the serene Lagunas Madre e Hija (Mother and Daughter Lagoons) before gradually opening toward the dramatic Cerro Torre valley.

Along the way, we’ll stop for photos and wildlife spotting — keep an eye out for the elusive Cauquenes (upland geese) and the occasional Andean condor soaring overhead. As the valley widens, the unmistakable granite spire of Cerro Torrebegins to dominate the skyline, marking our arrival at the glacial lake Laguna Torre.

Here, we enjoy a scenic picnic lunch overlooking the Glacier Grande and its floating icebergs. Weather permitting, we continue to the Maestri Viewpoint, offering the closest and most dramatic view of the glacier’s jagged face and the towering spires of Cerro Torre. This legendary Patagonian peak, named after Italian climber Cesare Maestri, is famous for being one of the most challenging climbs in the world.

As the day winds down, we descend slightly to the Comfort Camp Laguna Torre, our overnight base nestled in the valley. If skies are clear, we’ll return to the lake at sunset to watch the alpenglow light up Cerro Torre — a magical end to another unforgettable day of Patagonia trekking.

Day 3: Río Fitz Roy Zipline – Paso de Agachonas – Pliegue del Tumbado – El Chaltén

Our final day begins with an adrenaline-filled start as we cross the powerful Río Fitz Roy by zipline, gliding high above glacial waters with sweeping views of Patagonia’s rugged wilderness. Once across, we follow the trail through ancient lenga forest and across rocky moraines as we steadily climb toward the Paso de las Agachonas.

This ascent is steep but rewarding — as the trees thin, panoramic vistas unfold, revealing Cerro Torre, Glacier Grande, and the wide Patagonian steppe stretching toward the horizon. The climb gives you a true taste of Patagonia’s wild elements, where the infamous winds remind you why this is one of the world’s most exhilarating trekking destinations.

At the summit, we’re rewarded with one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in Los Glaciares National Park: a sweeping perspective of both the Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre ranges, the Paso del Viento (Windy Pass), and—on clear days—the distant peaks of the Southern Patagonian Icefield. It’s an unforgettable location for photographers and mountain lovers alike.

From this high point, we begin our descent through open alpine terrain and grassy meadows along the Loma del Pliegue Tumbado, returning to El Chaltén by late afternoon. After three days of trekking beyond the Fitz Roy Range, you’ll have experienced the very best of Patagonia’s wild landscapes — from glaciers and valleys to ridgelines and summits.
