Our "Cusco to the Andes" 7 day trip delivers a fast paced tour packed with Peru's diverse landscapes and ecosystems. This itinerary showcases the magic that can be found in the Amazon Jungle, the one of a kind Sky Lodge in the Sacred Valley, before boarding a train to the ruins of Machu Picchu. The trip ends with an amazing lung busting hike to 17,000ft reaching the spectacular Rainbow Mountain.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Lima to Iquitos - Amazon Jungle

Today you will catch a quick 2 hour flight from Lima to the jungle town of Iquitos. Once you get to Iquitos, we’ll pick you up and take you directly to the treehouse hotel. Make sure to book your flights so that you arrive no earlier than 10 AM and no later than 2:30 PM and make sure your departing flight leaves after 12 Noon. If you arrive in Iquitos after 3:00 PM, you will need to spend one night in Iquitos and we will pick you up the following morning. Some popular ones include the Samiria Jungle Hotel, the Nativa Apartments, and the Casa Morey Hotel.

Once in Iquitos, your journey to the lodge will consists of a car ride for about 1:15 hours. After which, we will make a quick pit stop and transfer to the Treehouse river boat. You’ll ride about 1 hour, first down the Marañón River, across the Amazon River, and then up the Ucayali River before connecting to the Yarapa River where Treehouse amazon Lodge sits.

Staying at Treehouse Lodge is truly an All-Inclusive experience. All of the excursions you will find below are included in the price of your treehouse. Upon arrival at Treehouse Lodge you will have the opportunity to plan out your days in the Peruvian Amazon with your guide. There is no need to pre-book excursions!

After Lunch there is normally time for 2 Activities.

Day 2: Treehouse Lodge - Amazon Jungle

All of the excursions you will find below are included in the price of your treehouse. Upon arrival at Treehouse Lodge you will have the opportunity to plan out your days in the Peruvian Amazon with your guide. There is no need to pre-book excursions!

Day 3: Flight from Iquitos to Cusco

Today you will eat breakfast and arrange your last adventure prior to your departure from the Lodge. Be sure to arrange your departing flight after 12 (noon) on your final day. You will take a quick flight either direct to Cusco or with a short stopover in Lima. Arriving in Cusco in the afternoon/evening. Upon arrival to Cusco Airport your private transportation will be awaiting your arrival and take you to your hotel in Cusco City.

Day 4: Sky Lodge - Sacred Valley

Experience the Amazing Sky Lodge Adventure Suites:

A transparent luxury capsule that hangs from the top of a mountain in the Sacred Valley Peru.

Located in the Sacred Valley of Cuzco, Peru, the exclusive Skylodge Adventure Suites offers you the chance to sleep within a completely transparent hanging bedroom, that allows you to appreciate the impressive view of this magic and mystic valley. To sleep at Skylodge, people must climb 400 mt. of Via Ferrata or hike an intrepid trail through ziplines. One night at this place will make your dreams come true. Packages includes breakfast & gourmet dinner with wine, transportation from Cuzco and our professional bilingual guides.

Schedule:

2 pm: Hotel pick up in Cusco City
3:30 pm: Arrive to Pachar
3:30 – 4 pm: Safety talk and equipment
4 – 5:30 pm: Ascent (Zip Line hike or climbing Via Ferrata depending on the package)
5:30 – 6 pm Arrive to SkyLodge Adventure suites, we will receive you with hot drink
6 – 6:30 pm Briefing on how to use the lodge
8 pm Dinner

Day 5: Sky Lodge - Sacred Valley

Rise and shine with 7am wake up call and a beautiful breakfast in the dining room. After a delicious meal you will descend by either a repel or zip-line to the bottom of the valley. From here we transport you to your Sacred Valley hotel in the beautiful town of Ollantaytambo.

Day 6: 1 Day Machu Picchu by Train

You will board an early morning train to the town of Aguas Calientes at the base of Machu Picchu. This two-hour train ride will take you through spectacular scenery. Accompanied by your expert local Guide, you will arrive at the gates of Machu Picchu. You and your guide will explore the most important parts of the Incan city, and reveal all that is known about its amazing history. The guided tour lasts for about 2.5 hours during which you’ll learn about the Inca civilization and visit all the highlights of Machu Picchu even stopping to take some selfies with the local resident Llamas!

After the wonderful visit you will catch a bus back down to Aguas Calientes where you will have lunch and board a train back to Ollantaytambo train station, and then go by private van back to your hotel in Cusco City. Arrival time is around 7pm.

Day 7: Rainbow Mountain Trek

SCHEDULE:

Your day starts in Cusco where you are picked up from your hotel at 2:15am for a 3.5 hour drive to the start of the trail. You will be given a local Peruvian style breakfast prepared by our chef and fuel up for the hike ahead of you.

The hike to the rainbow mountain will take around 2 hours and is a distance of 4 kilometers (2.5 miles). Throughout your journey you will pass through a vibrant green valley with the snow capped peak of Apu Ausangate towering in the distance. You will see hundreds of roaming alpaca, and have the chance to truly see how Quechua people live. As you get closer to the Rainbow Mountain you will begin to see the first signs of the colored minerals that formed the painted hills. Your guide will explain what makes up the existence of the Rainbow Mountain and how it was formed, and finally with one last push you will hike up to a vantage point that gives you a 360 degree view of the beautiful landscape that makes up the sacred land.

We will have snacks on top and take a relaxing break to soak up the vistas, where you can enjoy the beauty that surrounds you. At this time you can also enjoy some coca tea that the locals prepare for visitors. After about an hour we will continue on to the red valley, another awe inspiring area not to be missed by trekkers but seldom visited. From here, we continue our hike back to the trailhead (1 hour). Shortly after you will have a gourmet lunch prepared by our chef in a traditional mud-house and depart back to Cusco, arriving around 4pm.
