Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Ljubljana

Welcome to beautiful Slovenia!

Arrive at Ljubljana airport and get a transfer to your hotel in the city center. Get to know one of the cutest European capitals, explore its streets and squares, enjoy the lively atmosphere, and hike up to the castle for the best view.

We can also organize a nice city biking tour or have a food expert take you around the best local bars, bistros and cafes. A great introduction to Slovenia's culinary.

Overnight Ljubljana - City Hotel

Day 2: Lake Bled Hiking & Biking

After breakfast, get a transfer to the iconic Lake Bled.

Located at the foothills of the Julian Alps, this picture-postcard lake with its island is one of Slovenia's main attractions. Besides the most popular highlights, such as the Castle and the Island, Bled is also a great place for sports activities like hiking and biking as it is surrounded by beautiful mountains, forests, gorges and traditional villages.

You will do a nice bike ride through small countryside villages, do a spectacular walk through the famous Vintgar Gorge and to a stunning viewpoint above the lake. To finish it off, swim, row or stand-up-paddle to the island. Do you like honey? Visit a local beekeeper!

Overnight: Garni Hotel Berc or similar

Day 3: Hiking: Lonely Peaks of the Julian Alps

The day will start with a transfer to the trailhead in the Triglav National Park where you start your hut-to-hut adventure.

Initially, the forest path will take you through wild forests to charming alpine pastures in the very little visited part of the Triglav National Park.

Further on, the gravel trail leads over mountain passes with great views over alpine valleys enclosed by high mountain walls, from which sharp summits pierce the sky.

After a late lunch at the mountain hut, you’ll finish the day or can extend it for an additional one hour to a nearby summit to soak up the majestic late afternoon views.

If you have a passion for hiking, you’ll surely want to climb Mt Triglav, the highest mountain in Slovenia. If so, you’ll keep hiking for additional 2 hours, with a 500-meter elevation gain, to the mountain hut just below Triglav summit, where you’ll overnight.

Hiking: 5.5 miles / 9 km approx. 6 hours hiking

*Your main luggage will be transfer to the farm in the Soca Valley where you stay 2 nights from today.

Overnight: Sleep in a mountain hut

Day 4: Hiking: To the Seven Triglav Lakes Valley and optionally the summit of Triglav

Sit outside the mountain hut, sip on your cup of coffee and enjoy the gorgeous morning vistas. After a relaxing morning, continue with your trek. Cross the 'lunar surface' of the Hribarice Plateau and enter the Seven Triglav Lakes Valley. The crystal clear waters of the high alpine lakes are very inviting after a long hike but swimming or bathing in them is highly forbidden. Spend the night in a mountain hut at an amazing sunset location.

Hiking: 7 h, 6 miles (10 km), elevation + 800m, - 600m

If you decide to climb the summit of Mount Triglav you will meet your IFMGA mountain guide early in the morning at the hut. From there, you’ll hike across the karst plateau and climb the exposed via-ferrata on the ridge of this three-headed mountain. It’ll take you over the summit of Mali (little) Triglav to the top of Slovenia, which Slovenians must climb to be considered a true Slovenian. After experiencing the tradition of becoming one of us, you’ll descend to the mountain's west side, say goodbye to your IFMGA mountain guide, and continue hiking on your own. Soon you join the above described path and continue to your tonight's mountain hut.

Hiking: 8 h, 6 miles (10 km), elevation + 750m, - 1100m

Overnight: Sleep in a mountain hut

Day 5: Hiking: Descending to the Soca Valley

Today you are doing a long descent from the high limestone terrain of the Triglav National Park into the green Soca Valley. You will hike through a forgotten valley of Lepoc to Trenta valley (the Upper Soca Valley). It's a long walk downhill, but the time will fly as your eye will be busy with looking at the sky piercing summits. You might spot some chamois' or marmots.

Once in the valley, you'll walk along the Soca river, tamed by the tall walls of the surrounding mountains and it's hidden canyons. Have a refreshing swim in Soca's inviting but cold river pools.

Hiking: 7-8h, 10 miles (16 km), +140 m, -1600 m

Overnight: Sleep at a local farm

Today you will overnight at a farm. They have a couple of rooms and a campsite, lots of sheep and produce their own sheep cheese. And of course tasty home-cooked breakfast and dinner.

You will sleep in a room with 4 or 6 beds. Bathroom is shared.

Day 6: Bike & Raft Along the Soca Valley

We will deliver e-bikes to your farmstay.  Hop on two wheels and discover the hidden corners of the Soca Valley. Have a drink (and/or lunch) in the town of Bovec and continue by the Soca river all the way to the starting point of your rafting tour.

Change your bike for neoprene clothes and a vessel, ride the turquoise rapids and have some fun on the water.

Once you finish the rafting tour get a transfer (1 hour) to Goriska Brda - the land of amazing food & wine just on the Italian border.

Biking: 18 miles (30 km)

Overnight: Guesthouse Belica, Marica or similar

Day 7: Cycling in Goriska Brda

Goriska Brda is the land of rolling wine hills, also known as 'Slovenian Tuscany'. You will see why! Today you can take it easy. Relax by the swimming pool of your guest house, visit a winemaker or two and try the excellent local wine. Slovenian wine makers might not be super famous, but they take their work super seriously and, we promise you – you will be surprised!

We will deliver E-bikes to your guesthouse. Pedal your way across these lovely hills, through olive groves, fruit orchards and hilltop villages. Very recommended!
