The Quilotoa Loop is the common name given to a roughly 200km loop through the Ecuadorian Andes located 90 kilometers west of the city of Latacunga. The most common trail stretches between the stunning Quilotoa Crater Lake, an extinct volcano caldera filled with alkaline water around 250m deep, through the village of Chugchilan with the quaint hamlet of Isinlivi as its northern terminus. Other beautiful villages to visit on the Quilotoa Loop are Saquisili, Sigchos, Malingua Pamba, Tigua and Zumbahua…each with its own flavor and charm.
