On this 5 Days in Guatemala Trip you’ll see the best of Guatemala, its people and magic from different perspectives and points of view, having the experience of visiting the beautiful colonial city in ruins of Antigua, the marvelous Atitlan lake with its indigenous communities and social projects, the Pacaya active volcano hike and the one and only the majestic Tikal. Considered to be one of the most famous archaeological sites of all and home of the Great Jaguar Temple (Temple 1) an icon for the country and the world. Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Guatemala; the heart of the mayan world and transfer to hotel in Guatemala City

Welcome by our team at the Aurora International Airport (GUA) and private transportation (at any time) to the beautiful and colonial city in ruins of La Antigua Guatemala (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), a magical city full of charm and probably the most visited town in the country.  

Free time to explore (try to arrive before 5pm in order to enjoy the sunset in Antigua with tea, coffee or drinks), rest and to prepare ourselves for our upcoming transformative journey. Overnight in a comfortable Hotel in Antigua.

Activities: Wellcome transfer and sightseeing

Day 2: The most beautiful Lake in the world, Lake Atitlan

The most beautiful Lake in the world; Atitlan with its indigenous communities, social projects and the ancient mayan workshops of Juan La Laguna:

Early morning breakfast and the beginning of our journey through the mayan highlands; most known as the sectors of our indigenous mayan culture alive and surrounded by beautiful landscapes full of mountains, volcanoes, indigenous communities and all kinds of agricultural crops until the town of Panajachel, located on the shores of Atitlan and the place where we will take our boat and cross the crystalline waters of the Lake until the small, picturesque and charming town of San Juan La Laguna.

Lunch and a cultural afternoon, full of ancestral knowledge by visiting and learning from their community social projects focused on the preservation of alternative and natural medicine, primitivist painting, natural dyeing, beekeeping and much more. Boat ride back to Panajachel and our return to Antigua. Overnight in a comfortable Hotel in Antigua.

Activities: Panajachel sightseeing, Boat ride (lake Atitlan), San Juan (tour & workshops).

Day 3: Pacaya Active Volcano Hike

The Pacaya active volcano; also known as the torch of the Americas and our local afternoon flight to La Isla de Flores (the mayan lowlands):

Free morning in the beautiful Antigua and time for us to get in the colonial city in ruins,  lunch and afternoon transportation to the pacific cost until the Pacaya Volcano and Calderas Lagoon national park where we will hike on its interpretive trails of massive rugged dried lava fields, magma stones, steaming boilers (extremely hot), surrounded with magnificent and breathtaking views of the Agua, Fuego & Acatenango volcanoes at our surroundings.

This hike is the least challenging volcano hike but that doesn't mean that's easy, and it's perfect for a group of travelers and families.   We will definitely connect with the energy of this amazing volcano and if we are lucky enough; the Pacaya and Acatenango (both active volcanoes) will set up a lava show for us ! Because just recently Pacaya has become more active again. Transportation back to Antigua for a local exquisite dinner and time to rest for our upcoming flight and adventure into the mayan lowlands of El Peten (early morning on the next day).

Day 4: Tikal Mayan Ruin Visit

Our local flight to the Mayan Biosphere Reserve, the exploration of the majestic Tikal and our special goodbye dinner:

Just because today is the last day of our journey, it doesn’t mean we’re slowing down.

Early morning transfer to the Guatemala city airport for our quick local flight to the northern jungles of El Peten and then the visit of the beautiful and picturesque Isla de Flores, located in the middle of the crystal clear waters of the Peten Itza Lake. Breakfast and transportation to Tikal, a magical place full of magic and mysticism whose history begins around 2000 years A.C. and  today archaeologists are still working on the site, finding day to day more evidence of our ancient and wise civilization.

In Tikal we will connect with its mysticism, divine magic and decipher the greatest mysteries and enigmas of this impressive civilization as you walk through its dense jungle. Among its impressive structures excels the Great Jaguar (or Temple 1) an icon for the mayas, located in the Central Acropolis, Temple 2 (or the Masks), the Lost World, the Window Palace and the Temple 4 (or the two headed serpent) that it's one of the tallest pre-Colombian structures of all the Americas. Free time for lunch, afternoon transfer back to la Isla de Flores for us to have time to explore the small but charming island and to catch our local flight back to Antigua, and because is your last night we are going to have a really good time celebrating life, taking  you out for lounge/bar hopping with a delicious and special goodbye dinner.  Overnight in a comfortable Hotel in Antigua.

Accomodation: Hotel (Antigua).

Activities: Local round flight to Flores (FRS), Isla de Flores sightseeing, Tikal tour and special goodbye dinner.

Day 5: Departure Day

Final transfer to Guatemala city airport, goodbye & the end of our services:

Morning breakfast and our final transfer to the Airport to be there 3 hours before our departure time. Goodbye from our team and until the next time !
