This 7 Epic Patagonia trip is lead by our experienced mountain guide. The trip will take you along the iconic W trail ending with an amazing walk on Glacier Grey! The Bucket-list W trek takes you along trails reaching glaciers, lakes, forests and the mighty Paine Towers, feeding your trekking-hungry soul every step of the way. The name “W” comes from the formation of a perfect W with the coming together of the paths that surround the southern sector of the Macizo del Paine. The principal attractions of the W Circuit are: Base Torres, Francés Valley and Grey Glacier.

Itinerary:
Day 1: Regular transfer to Torres del Paine, lodging in Central Mountain Hostel.
Day 2: Hike to Las Torres Base, lodging in Central Mountain Hostel.
Day 3: Hike to the Francés Sector, lodging in Francés or Cuernos Mountain Hostel.
Day 4: Hike to the Francés Valley, lodging at Paine Grande Mountain Hostel.

Day 5: Hike to the Grey Glacier lookout point, lodging at Grey Mountain Hostel - Hike on Glacier Grey.

Day 6: Hike to Paine Grande, return in catamaran trip via Pehoé Lake to Puerto Natales.

Day 7: Depart

*Refugios: Rustic Lodges in the park with shared bunk (dorm style accommodation), 4-6 bunks per room. All bedding and meals included.

Trip ITINERARY

DAY 1: PUERTO NATALES TO TORRES DEL PAINE

Arrive to Puerto Natales. Meet your local mountain guide at the predetermined time and location in Puerto Natales (travelers must arrive no later than 12pm). After lunch, head to Torres del Paine National Park. During the 2.5 drive, soak up the beautiful views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks. You will arrive in the afternoon, have dinner, and sleep in the Central Sector.

Accommodation: Central Mountain Refugio

DAY 2: HIKE TO LAS TORRES BASE LOOKOUT POINT

You will depart early to one of the landmarks of the park, the Las Torres Base Lookout Point.

During the first stretch, you will walk through the pampa, cross the Ascencio River, and then climb 3 km up to Los Vientos Mountain Pass, where you will enjoy amazing views of the valley and lakes. You will continue your journey to the Chileno Mountain Refuge, and then go deep into a lenga beech forest up to La Morrena, where the hardest part of the hike begins. You will follow a rock trail to the spectacular Las Torres Base Lookout Point. Later, you will begin the descent to the Central Sector to have dinner and sleep.

Hiking: 12 miles (19 km) / 8 hours of trekking (day pack only)

Accommodation: Central Mountain Refugio

DAY 3: HIKE FRANCÉS SECTOR

You will walk about 13.5 km along the shore of Nordenskjöld Lake,Almirante Nieto Hill, and the striking Cuernos del Paine. During the hike, you will enjoy magnificent views of Los Cuernos, hanging glaciers, lakes, and the abundant local vegetation and wildlife.

You will have dinner and sleep in the Francés Sector.

Hiking: 7 miles (13.5 km) / 7-8 hours of trekking

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Accommodation: Francés or Cuernos Mountain Refugio

DAY 4: HIKE FRANCÉS VALLEY

The day begins with one of the icons of the circuit, the Francés Valley. You will start early with a light hike to the Italiano Campsite. From there, you will begin the climb through the woods (about 2 km) up the Francés River Valley. We will continue to the Francés Lookout Point, where you will enjoy one of the most breathtaking views of the circuit, the view to the valley framed by the Hills Paine Grande, Catedral, Hoja, Máscara, Espada, Aleta de Tiburón, and Cuerno del Norte. It will leave you speechless. After this spectacle, you will begin the descent to the Paine Grande Sector.

Hiking: 15 miles (20km) / 8-10 hours of trekking

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Accommodation: Paine Grande Mountain Refugio

DAY 5: PAINE GRANDE CAMP TO GREY CAMP

Hike to Grey Glacier, an impressive ice field that covers the west end of the park. Enjoy the beauty of Pehoé Lake and Grey Lake as you approach the glacier. In the afternoon, you will embark on a Glacier hike on the amazing Glacier Grey. If you prefer to rest this afternoon, you can enjoy the amazing scenery or explore some of the hanging bridges from the Refugio.

Hiking: 7 miles (11.3 km) / 4-5 hours trekking

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Accommodation: Paine Grande Mountain Refugio

DAY 6: GREY CAMP TO PUERTO NATALES

A 3 to 4 hour walk toward the lake will take you to the catamaran back to Pehoé and out of the park. Private transportation will be awaiting your arrival to take the scenic ride back to Puerto Natales. Enjoy a free night on the town, and a overnight in Puerto Natales.

Hiking: 7 miles (11 km) / 3-4 hours trekking

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Accommodation: Paine Grande Mountain Refugio

DAY 7: DEPARTURES FROM PUERTO NATALES

Flight Home, either catch a flight out of Puerto Natales, catch a bus to Punta Arenas for your international flight home. Otherwise you can book an extension with us to explore more of the Patagonia region!

  • Transport on a regular bus from Puerto Natales to Torres del Paine National Park and back.
  • 2 nights of lodging in Central Sector, 1 night in the Francés Sector and 1 night in the Paine Grande Sector, 1 in Grey Refugio.
  • Mountain hostels include beds with sleeping bag, except at the Central Mountain hostel (fully-made bed, with sheets).
